| To Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} +300 Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Gry. {Shadwell Grylls} 16/KW.5.9.35. Points to raise with Design Dept. (1) Large bore designs finished by draughtsman about same time as Ex. drawings. Four weeks before E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} looked at them when he suggested a few alterations. 3 weeks before he again looked at them, by which time Ex. engine was running on test bed and had been modified to overcome initial troubles. (2) Designs of Bentley large slipper wheel had been completed some time so I asked E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} to issue them. He sent for them and promised to issue them at once. 11 days later they are still in his office. (3) A week ago I rang E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} up to ask him to issue drawing of large bore 20/25 turbulent head, which he said he would do. No sign of it. (4) Required for large bore Bentley from Design Dept. - (a) Tachometer drive gears, 6:1 ratio. (b) Tecalemit filter mounting. (5) Drawings of Spectre(Codename for Phantom III) tappet experiments are finished but not issued. It was agreed at a meeting in E's office a fortnight ago that these were urgently wanted. (6) Da. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} was asked by Les, 5 weeks ago for alternative Spectre(Codename for Phantom III) radiator fixing instead of studs fitted by GWH. {George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} took an interest 3 weeks ago. We still have no design. Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Gry. {Shadwell Grylls} | ||
