COPY RE PACKARD CARS AND WATER CIRCULATION. With reference to the attached, owing th similar trouble with 49GB, I had schemed a somewhat similar device without knowing what Packard was doing. My device is to stop and start the fan so as to keep the water up to a given temperature, but keep the circulation at full speed, and so avoid hot places in the cylinders, and frozen parts of the radiator. This I fear would happen if the circulation was checked, as in the Packard scheme. You will remember that we have long suggested stopping off from 30% to 60% of the radiator in winter, by a plate at the top and bottom of the radiator. This is a thoroughly simple, sound, and practical way of meeting the case. R. {Sir Henry Royce} 2847 | ||
