| JONAS WOODHEAD & SONS LTD Continuation Sheet No. 2 main plate eyes on your bumper test. Whilst it is true the plate is on the thin side at the point of fracture, nevertheless, we should not have thought they would have broken at such an early stage of the test. We are sure that the shackle attachments were in good order and allowed free movement, but if we had received such an eye from any of our usual customers, we should have regarded the failure as being caused by initial stresses in the bushing, or due to nipping up at the sides. We confirm the telephone message from your Mr.Leslie this week, asking for a further four back plates, without machining in the eye bore, and we have made these and expect to despatch them to-day. We hope better results will now be obtained, and we remain, with many thanks for your courtesy in testing these springs, Yours faithfully, JONAS WOODHEAD & SONS, LTD. | ||
