WRAITH 111 and BENTLEY 111 - CRANKCASE WITH FACINGS FOR FRONT ENGINE SUPPORTS DELETED.

Please receive herewith E.CD.395 Deletion of Front Engine Support Feet from crankcase - Wraith lll.

As it has now been decided (Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 8/R.12.1.38 RMC.1/LS.14.1.38) to use the high front engine mounting in place of the side engine front supports for both Wraith lll and Bentley lll engine, there is no need to retain the support arms for the latter type of mounting on the crankcase casting.

E.CD.395 shows the modifications to the crankcase, deleting the support facings and also the revised facings required for the torque reaction damper and the coil support bracket.

We have also shown an alternative design for the coil bracket made as a pressing, and would like comments as to which of the brackets is preferred from the manufacturing and cost points of view.

These alterations should be introduced for both the Wraith lll and Bentley lll engines as soon as convenient. The revised designs of torque reaction dampers for both engines, to suit the altered crankcase, will be issued shortly.
