| COPY. Wat/9/JH ESC/MH. {M. Huckerby} 29th October 1936. Messrs. Rolls Royce Limited, D E R B Y. Dear Sir's, Referring to your letter of the 24th instant, we have made no arrangements to protect the battery fixing bolts against corrosion when the positive is earthed to the frame, and as far as we know neither have the original suppliers of the batteries. Do you refer to corrosion resulting from the bolts becoming wet with acid from the battery, or as a result of them becoming damp owing to atmospheric conditions? When the battery is fitted with a cover the hold-down nuts are housed in recesses on the underside, and in our opinion this ought to give adequate protection. We should like to know, as a matter of interest, if you propose in future to change over from negative to positive earthing. Yours faithfully, PETO & RADFORD. | ||
