| - 3 - Oil relief valve. We have had no failure with oil pressure since easing the valve stem in it's guide. Dynamo. X5661 Dynamo 5"625 fitted with solid poles and 28 slot armature D.51516. The output of dynamo has been satisfactory. The brushes have at times been noisy Battery Ignition. X5650 The Tungsten points became badly pitted and caused bad misfires at the mileage of 7921. These were taken off and sent to Derby; they were replaced by spares. The inside of distributor has been free of oil, and condenser joints have remained secured. A fair amount of dust penetrated in the inside of the distributor. The ignition was satisfactory when using magneto occasionally. Bonnet. This is an improvement, and bonnet catches have remained secured. The new type catches on M.S. are still in a very good condition. Radiator & shutters. Vertical shutters and radiator to M.S. 2314, 2320, 2355 & L.002.s E.54230 S.54240. The radiator with vertical shutters is an distinct improvement in appearance. The shutters have operated satisfactory and very little wear can be detected. The radiator is in very good condition. Cast dash board. We cannot find any fault with the cast dash board. The two bottom bolts in brackets holding same to frame do not remain firm, it has been necessary to tighten these up on several occasion. Steering column & box. As reported at the mileage of 4712 miles, we found all the bolts holding the halves of the steering box together loose, and it had been reported a considerable amount of oil was being lost; after tightening these bolts up, the only oil lost has been through the pendulum lever bearing, the amount has been very small. The condition of the steering at finish of run is very good. When turning the steering wheel when the car is stationary there is a slight click at the ball end of the pendulum lever. We find that this is due to the plunger in the side steering tube sticking slightly, and; then being released. It appears to be caused by slight unevenness of the plunger stem. The steering column bracket on dash has remain secure. Slight play has taken place at the front end of side steering tube ball joint. It has been necessary to readjust this on two occasions. Springs in side steering tube have remained intact. | ||
