Messrs. Rolls Royce Limited,
DERBY.

18th March, 1935.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of the 15th inst. enclosing copy of your drawing GL. {G. Linnett} 529, and confirming telephone conversation we understand that the car for which this equipment is intended will give a maximum loading of 19 cwt. on the back axle.

In the circumstances, we feel that the 6.50-16 tyre which for normal operation has a carrying capacity of 23 cwt. at 30 lbs. pressure, should be satisfactory. We should, however, very much appreciate some idea of the work which this tyre will be called upon to do in service.

We have laid out the 16" diameter rim on your drawing and find it possible to accommodate this with your existing brake arrangement.

As requested, we are returning your drawing and have superimposed the section of the 6.50-16 E.L.P. tyre on the 4.50x16 rim which should provide a better anchorage than the 4.00 rim to which this tyre can also be fitted. The latter combination is also shown.

The complete weight of the 6.50-16 cover, tube and flap is 27 lbs. 14 ozs., and the estimated weight of the 4.50x16 wheel would be 23 1/2 lbs.

The writer expects to be at your Works either tomorrow or Wednesday and would be very pleased to review this matter with you should there be any further points you wish to discuss.

Yours faithfully,
FOR THE DUNLOP RUBBER CO. LIMITED.
