Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 5/LG25.2.21. X.3485 - RE "GOSHAWK(Aero Engine)(Codename for 20HP Car / Aero Engine after Kestrel(Aero Engine)) I" X.427. X.3173. The reason we recommend fitting a battery ignition to this car is owing to the unsatisfactory running we obtain on magneto. The magneto is a small size German Bosch. We cannot fit to the engine a Watford magneto or a B.T.H. because the centres are different. Mr. Day has got out a simple scheme so that we can fit the R-R aero type battery ignition to it. We consider that as it has been decided to git battery ignition to "Goshawk(Aero Engine)(Codename for 20HP Car / Aero Engine after Kestrel(Aero Engine)) II", it would be an advantage to put battery ignition on "Goshawk(Aero Engine)(Codename for 20HP Car / Aero Engine after Kestrel(Aero Engine)) I", especially as the magneto is not satisfactory.
