| ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED, NIGHTINGALE ROAD, DERBY. TELEGRAMS: "ROYCAR," DERBY. TELEPHONES: 813 (Two Lines). DEPARTMENTAL MEMO. This column is for Name of Person addressed. DATE. EP {G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} 55/T22612 2615 Mr Barrington 22/6/12 RE GROUND CLEARANCE. We have experience considerable trouble on this job in getting the model to agree with Mr Spinney's drawings. According to Mr Spinney's particulars it should be a fact that when the chassis is loaded so as to cause the springs to have normal cambers, ie flat springs, the distance from the top of the frame to the ground on 1900 type standard chassis should be 23 11/16" We have not, up to the present been able to get this owing to various sags and distortions which take place in the frame when under load which Mr Spinney has not allowed for. Mr Spinney has re-instructed for various alterations to be made on this so as to get this specified height of chassis from the Contd. This sheet must be filed with the correspondence to which it refers. [Handwritten Note]: instructed 18# immediately WS and the Foremen on the trouble. RB {R. Bowen} [Stamp]: B 22 JUN 1912 | ||
