Effect of Warm Air on Various Types of Carburetters

The writer used an S.U. Carburetter throughout these tests. This carburetter is of the constant vacuum type. On a static type of carburetter such as a Zenith or Solex the addition of controlled warm air usually has a marked effect in obviating flat spots and assists in vapourising the fuel and should also allow of the use of bigger chokes which is the limiting factor in this type of carburetter.

Independent Opinions.

Mr. Milne of Dennis Bros. Ltd., is fully aware of this excessive bonnet temperature and is keenly interested in this development. Mr. Hathaway of The S.S. Co. Ltd. has found a definite improvement in the "Jaguar" car since they have fitted air cleaners which have air entries low down in the chassis where obviously the temperature is lower.
