| To Wd. {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} from EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} X2572 EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 4/T3.8.22. X.2512 - CONDENSERS - PORTABLE CONDENSER TESTING SET For the purpose of the above set, we require, if such an instrument is available, a robust direct reading ballistic galvanometer, capable of indicating the discharge of a condenser as small as .01 mf. capacity, charged to a potential difference of 12 volts. Would you kindly therefore write to those firms which might be likely to have such an instrument :- We suggest - 1. The Cambridge & Paul Co. 2. W.G. Pye & Co. 3. Nalder Bros. & Thompson. 4. General Electric Company. 5. Gallenkamps. 6. Messrs. Griffin. The instrument should be capable of not being damaged by the direct application of 12 volts, if possible. The purpose of the instrument would be to make it into a portable apparatus which will enable condensers of capacity up to .35 mf. to be compared with the standard condenser built into the apparatus when charged from a chassis lighting battery to a potential of 12 volts. If the sensitivity of comparison does not amount to detection of the difference of .01mf. we should like to know the nearest galvanometer which they would propose. EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} | ||
