RE LAST 25 CHASSIS IN 'T' SERIES

A decision has been arrived at in Conference this afternoon as to how the last 25 chassis in 'T' series will be produced. The following represents the modifications to be included :-

1. BALANCED CRANKSHAFTS as fitted to 18-G-1V. This is K's 8 weight, 6 unit scheme, the journals of the crankshaft being to the present dimensions, but the crankpins to be 2" in diameter.

2. CONNECTING RODS. These will be the new rod with the enlarged end to suit the 2" pin.

3. PISTONS. These to be 5.75 to 1 compression as on 18-G-1V.

4. VALVES. The new type exhaust valves with larger stems. We will fit guides of the same outside diameter as previously, the metal in the valve guide itself being made thinner to accommodate the larger valve.

5. CAMSHAFTS. The new high lift type as fitted to 18-G-1V.

6. VALVE SPRINGS. The special valve springs fitted to 18-G-1V. will also be necessary. As a general guide the valve springs in question are to the original dimensions in every respect, except that the free length was considerably increased.

7. EXHAUST SYSTEM. We are not quite clear as to what the system will be between the exhaust manifold and the front of the silencer, but it is clear that the rear silencer is to be the Short Type 40/50 which was instructed for 18-G-1V.
