To Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg. {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re "SS {S. Smith} " - 22-EX. Sg {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} 8/E1.5.29

Would you please let me know how we stand in regard to the complaints about brakes?

You will remember that this was one of the original complaints on the first 10,000 miles car, i.e. squeaking brakes, and a good many of the reports on the above car refer to the same thing.

I thought that squeaking brakes were something we had managed to get over after a good deal of trouble on 20's and 40/50's, and am wondering why it has re-appeared.

There is also the question of the oil leak from the rear of the engine, which I think was an original 10,000 miles complaint and still appears to exist.

I should be glad of your remarks on this as well.

re self-starter and Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 4/LG22.4.29 I should be glad to know the result of the tests which you mentioned were being carried out at Derby to confirm that the modifications which have been made will make this part satisfactory.
