| - 2 - far as capacity was concerned, but these four condensers, in common with all the rest supplied, were unsatisfactory in regard to one or two minor details, as follows:- (a). The boss into which the large stud screws, was over size, and would not enter the ebonite bush which insulates same from case. (b). In regard to the thickness of condensers, they were also unsatisfactory in this respect as well. We have given the S.E.C. people a figure from the back of the brass plate carrying the large boss to the top of the slotted boss where the spring seats, of .700" The actual thickness of the condensers where varying from this, should be increased by adding micas. The S.E.C. in their letter of the 26th inst, have asked us whether we can supply sufficient scrap mica to enable them to build up as requested. Please state that as we have no large quantity of mica in at the moment, the amount of scrap we are making is used up in packing our own condensers, and therefore we regret we cannot supply their needs. Dealing now with one or two points raised by Mr. Turner in regard to our drawings as given below, his criticisms should be replied to as follows:- Screw F.7376. If the screw in question is made to our detail drawing, we find that it may be .050 too long, but that it is screwed sufficiently far up to enable it to be used without further work, beyond trimming off the projecting part of the thread after the condenser has been made up. | ||
