With reference to Vs {J. Vickers} /EP. {G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} 2/CB.

18.10.40. In view of the somewhat difficult attitude of the Admiralty towards alterations to the pedestal mounting, I have sent the attached letter to Admiral Whyham.

At the same time, we cannot let the gun suffer for the deficiencies of the mounting and I am therefore getting Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /HH to alter the drawings so that the washers are deleted, and the limits on the trunnion and mounting such that a satisfactory amount of end play will always be present.

These drawings will then be handed to the L.M. & S. and by this time I should think that Admiral Whyham will have told them to get on with the job.
