| Car ran morning shift only. Radiator mounting cap changed in afternoon and car oiled round. Car running with maximum control pressure to dampers. ENGINE. Started up on own carburetter with no failure. On one occasion only was there any sign of the weak spot in the carburetter. Tappets are noisy and are losing their clearance, inlets, and exhaust. A front creak has developed in the torque reaction dampers, cured by oiling fabrics. Power of engine remains good. GEARBOX. No trouble has been experienced with the synchromesh gears and no gears have come out of mesh. DAMPERS. No audible knocks, slight weep of oil from the rear end caps at joint. The pressure feed pipe leaked oil at banjo joint on NSF. and OSR. Both these banjos could be tightened. Banjo joints are not reliable where the twisting of the frame is liable to move the piping. The two top bolts holding damper to frame were loose on OSR. and NSR. PROPELLER SHAFT. The shaft runs out of truth on this car. The mechanics joints are very good for oil retaining. BRAKES. Not up to standard, but considerably improved, no squeaks or groans. STEERING. Selective with maximum load on damper, more damping load required on front for the maximum speeds; joggles are rather pronounced at times. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Gave no trouble. G.W.H. | ||
