Huckerby} 27th May 1938. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited, DERBY. Dear Sirs, For the attention of Mr. C.S. Steadman. Replying to your letter of the 26th inst. we are pleased to hear that you would like particulars of our Automatic Jet Control for the S.U. Carburetter and enclose herewith print No.X.29937, also print No.SK.29964, which is an alternative size lever. There are no modifications required to the standard S.U. Carburetter gland, although we should naturally prefer if this were so designed that it would be reasonably frictionless. Nevertheless our unit is sufficiently powerful to handle the standard jet. We have great faith in this unit and have now got it to a stage where it is absolutely trouble-free The introduction of a rubber bellows around the spindle to act as a seal made the job really trouble-free and although we do not obtain a very large amount of business for this unit, due to the introduction by S.U. of their automatic Carburetter, nevertheless it is still used by one of the wellknown car manufacturers. If possible the unit should be fitted as near as possible to the Carburetter so as to avoid too long a lever between the thermostatic jet control of the Carburetter jet, and you should bear in mind that the maximum stroke of the centre spindle is 12m/m. which should be made full use of and the link rod should be adjustable. contd: To avoid delay all envelopes should be addressed to the firm. | ||
