WRAITH lll and BENTLEY lll. CAMSHAFT DRIVING GEAR
WITHOUT CAM BALANCER.

Please receive herewith E.CD.478 Camshaft
Driving Gear without Cam Balancer - Wraith lll & Bentley lll.

This design is in accordance with request in
memo Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Swdl. {Len H. Swindell} 7/NH.27.1.38. and in addition to showing the
cam balancer deleted also calls for the following modified
features :-

(1). The oil supply hole drilling to front camshaft bearing
is simplified.

(2). A modified type of fixing for the Fabroil to the metal
centre of the cam wheel is shown.

(3). The spherical feature on the camshaft thrust plug has
been moved from the plug in the wheelcase to the
plunger in camshaft.

In item (2) the lugs for holding the Fabroil portion of the
gear are forged to finished size, the centre part of wheel
is otherwise machined all over.

The reason for the alteration item (3) is to
ensure that the contact point of the plunger is on the axis
of the camshaft, as the wheelcase is not accurately located
at this point.

Will you please detail and instruct the necessary
parts to be made for this experiment.
