| -2- Ds/Ev. {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} 3/N.16.11.37 Cont'd. {John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Wraith Bodies - 29-G-VI. We understand that you are taking the Enclosed Limousine allocated originally for 29-G-VI. and that a new Continental Touring Limousine is being built for that chassis for delivery in January. In order that there may be no confusion we have instructed Messrs.Park Ward separately concerning the specification of the body and chassis of this car. (see attached memo). We will send them the painting and trimming instructions without delay. Number 1. Production Chassis. This chassis will take the body, Enclosed Limousine, originally intended for 29-G-VI. and therein lies a little difficulty. The original schemes for all Wraith III cars were set out for 7 x 17.000" wheels, and a new 1.650 hypoid axle. Actually what have been, and will be used are 6.500 x 17" wheels and a .850 hypoid axle. The axle raises the rear of the car .800, and the reduced wheel diameter of .700 causes the clearances between the tyre and the outer edge of the wing to be too great, especially at the rear. At the same time both front and rear tracks have been increased by .500. We have corrected the dummy chassis and all new bodies will be true to the new schemes, but it is too late to correct in all respects the rear wheelarch of the Limousine originally intended for 29-G-VI. From the attached memo you will see that we have instructed Messrs.Park Ward & Co. to bring down the outer edges of the rear wing as much as possible to hide this gap. Numbers 2.3.4.5. & 6 Production Chassis. These bodies will be correct in all respects if built on the dummy chassis as specified. Should any subsequent chassis modifications be introduced, which effect the coachwork, we will instruct Messrs.Park Ward and inform you. Continued. | ||
