Feasible economies from the following:-

(1) Carbon crankshaft compared with F.O.M. saves 2/-

(2) Boring of pins and journals as at present but sealing by disc washers and not oilers would save approximately £1 (factory cost).

(3) Profiling of crankshaft webs costs approximately 15/- (factory cost) which unmachined would be saved.

(4) Unmachined crankshaft webs on the faces and including item (1); profiling would save 30/- (factory cost).

(5) Solid crank, i.e. no oilers or boring in the pins and journals, would save approximately :-
material : 45/- (labour : 20/-) a total factory cost of 90/-.

The factory cost of the standard F.O.M. with crankshaft complete to LOP is £15.11.9d.
