A test was carried out to determine oil leaks from Gear Box & Servo. Oil leak shewed up very bad from (1). Servo driven shaft housing on Gear Box (2) Speedometer drive housing (3) Covers over change speed mechanism (4) Selector shaft housing (5) Servo excessive oil leak internal.

We found that a throw of oil from the 1st & 2nd speed gear being slung directly at the Servo driving shaft bearing - flooding it & causing oil to leak past housing. To overcome this three baffle plates were fitted on gear box lid {A. J. Lidsey} - to divert the throw-of-oil.

All face joints were refitted & tighten up on Gear Box & a paper packing fitted under change speed lever cover - Servo dismantled - cleaned out driving pegs eased & friction arm made ok for poundage ie. 18 LBS.

After further road test - no oil leak from servo drive shaft housing - but a slight sweating appeared from the face joints as mentioned above - The Servo excessive oil was found.

At this stage a temporary vent was fitted on gear box lid {A. J. Lidsey} - Servo dismantled - oil removed.
