ENGINE. Engine power and acceleration were good; engine gears sing; tappets are noisy. No luffing up was noticed during run. Engine started up on own carburetter and continued to run; lubricator cap off water pump missing; governor control arm came off due to small split pin either breaking or wearing through. Water leaks from pump gland and rubber joint at side.
GEARBOX. Synchromesh gears good; oil gears generally quiet.
CLUTCH. Clutch has had to be reset owing to pedal fouling board. There is no sign of slipping.
SPRINGING. MAXIMUM CONTROL. At speed from 10 to 40 mph. the springing is harsh; at 50 passable; 60 upwards there is not sufficient damping. On certain roads the rear of the car starts to bounce and the period is the rear spring period. It is exactly as if no dampers were in action. The front is better controlled.
STEERING. Is inclined to stick on left lock. Slight joggles are felt.
BRAKES. Front thump, effective, quiet.
HYDRAULIC DAMPERS. No audible knocks, but not very effective on rear at high speeds.
