Coverley - Production Engineer} /GMC7/MJ.20.7.38., we discussed these points with Maclure in your absence, and the following agreement was reached:- (1) The oil hole cannot be vertical. (2) If the allowance between the shaft centre and the camshaft centre could be increased to ± 2, the complication of putting a window in the crankcase etc. etc. could be avoided. We agreed to try our experimental engines with this limit to see if we ran into any trouble, and should be glad if the limits on the drawing could be altered accordingly. (limits of gears will have to be adjusted accordingly.) (3) We recommended that experimental experience should be obtained before any modifications were made to the design. We quoted Vauxhalls and other people as examples of a similar job being done. (4) The assumption made by GMC. was correct. Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
