HERBERT CLARK, English. MANAGING DIRECTOR. 25th October, 1928. Messrs. Rolls-Royce,Ltd., DERBY. Attention: Mr. W. A. {Mr Adams} Robotham. Dear Sirs, Due to the Paris and London Motor Shows, I have been unable to reply to your favour of October 5th, and I am now taking this opportunity of thanking you for the consideration which you are giving the matter of the installation of front-wheel brakes to the "Silver Ghost(1907 40/50 historic RAC 15,000 miles trial)" type of car. During the London Show, I had an opportunity of discussing this matter with my Associate Director, M. {Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Henri Perrot, and he advised that they have equipped a large number of Rolls-Royce cars in France with our type of brake, and they seem to be giving every satisfaction. With respect to America, unfortunately, I am unable to state what the practice is over there, but I am informed that a great many conversions have taken place in England in connection with the Whitehead System, and I feel very sure that if the Rolls-Royce were to consider and undertake our proposition, that not only would they be able to show a slight profiton the undertaking, but in addition they would be rendering a great service to owners of "Silver Ghost(1907 40/50 historic RAC 15,000 miles trial)" chassis. Theoretically, the "Silver Ghost(1907 40/50 historic RAC 15,000 miles trial)" chassis was not designed to take a front-wheel torque re-action. In actual practice, under very severe conditions in France, I am informed that the chassis is performing perfectly with the installation of front-wheel brakes. I should welcome an opportunity of coming to Derby to see some of my old friends, and of talking with you in this connection. Again thanking you for the consideration and thought you have given me in the past. Yours very truly, BENDIX-PERROT BRAKES, LTD. [Signature] Managing Director. HC/EC. | ||
