Many thanks for Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 4/LG12.2.29, but as mentioned on the telephone to-day I am very sorry that you have sent off Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 1/LG13.2.29 to R. {Sir Henry Royce} because in my Sg {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} 1/E12.2.29 I specially said that I should like to discuss this matter with you before you go to Le Canadel(Henry Royce's French residence)......... and I should like to make sure that you appreciate our views on the subject before seeing R. {Sir Henry Royce} C. and I have read your memo. to R. {Sir Henry Royce} and we both feel that you have made the position more difficult for us than (strikethrough: hxfxxx) it was before, and it seems such a pity that we could not have discussed the matter first and got agreement on the subject, which I think would have been possible by discussion. We will ventilate the whole matter when we meet on Thursday afternoon next, but for your consideration prior to that meeting I am preparing, whilst the matter (underlined: is) clear in my mind, some notes on the subject which I will send to you to-morrow.
