BENTLEY V. {VIENNA} SIMPLIFIED EXHAUST SILENCER SUPPORT.

Please receive herewith :-

E.CD.1237 Front Silencer Front Support - Bentley V. {VIENNA}

A number of designs have been issued previously, showing attempts at a reduced cost flexible support for the exhaust system, by eliminating a number of the parts used to form the unit, most of these designs relied on the use of rubber in one form or another, for the flexibility required to cater for both engine oscillations and also the heat expansion of the exhaust system, but owing to the heavy cost of moulds for the rubber, the designs have not been tried out.

ROY {Mr H. Royce - Buyer} /Les. has suggested the use of the parts shown on this design, as the moulds and dies for the rubber and its housing are in existence, the parts actually being used on the Wraith lll chassis torsion bar.

For the experiment, we have shown the proposed suspension applied to the front end of the front silencer of the Bentley V. {VIENNA} exhaust system, where it should be tried out for comparison with our present type of silencer supports.

Will you please detail and instruct for the experiment.
