Dear Lucas,

I wonder whether your research Lab. can help us on plugs, our problems refer to both car and aviation work.

Generally speaking, we no longer think about mica plugs as the ceramic has so many advantages.

One of our problems is the inability of the modern plug to continue firing weak mixtures after it has been running some time and become oxydised.

The plug is so sensitive that passing feelers between the gap will restore it's efficiency to a large extent.

If you have anyone who can work with us we have some experimental cars on which the trouble can be demonstrated very satisfactorily.

We do know that we can get some improvement by the type of spark used but do not know whether we have had all that it is possible to get from this angle.

The plug manufacturers do not seem to be able to help us very much at the moment, but being able to reproduce the trouble on a car is a great help as this is always one of the greatest problems in an investigation.
