| δ JOB 427 To HPS. {Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} from Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Les. Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Les.4/MH. {M. Huckerby} 10.1.38. B.III FRAME WITH AMERICAN FRONT END CONSTRUCTION. It has been decided to build 3 frames having the American front end construction as PD.76. No order has gone to Thompsons, but they are spending £50 on tools and producing one pair of sidemembers FB.3404/5 and one pair of frame gussets FB.3466/7. Increase in cost of the tools is due to cast blocks being necessary for the front ends of the side members. These parts will be ready at the end of this month. For the first frame it is proposed to use the one pair of cruciforms FB.3224/5 which Thompsons have in stock and were made for the previous frame. All remaining parts will have to be supplied by us. Will you please arrange for the 3 frames to be built and send the necessary order to Thompsons. Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} has agreed to the cost of these frames.
