Re Ignition Switch for 6 volt coil. X.1413

J. {Mr Johnson W.M.} 22.4.15.

In reply to your memo CJ11/IW20415 and the attached correspondence, we wish to explain that the delay on this job was not due to any lack of enthusiasm at the Works but it was rather due to the fact that the necessity or advisability of using an insulated ignition Switch was not realised until after it was decided to standardise the 6 volt coil.

The first instructions the works had were towards the end of last September. The parts were quickly made but it was necessary to despatch some parts to a firm in London to be built up with ebonite insulation and we had a lot of trouble and delay in getting these parts returned to us. The complete device was, however, fitted to chassis 49GB on February 3rd and a second set fitted for immediate road test to chassis 1926 on March 10th.

We will now press the Experimental Dept. to give a report on this as early as possible.
