| E.57122. 20/25 PISTON SKIRT TESTS. With the piston supported as in previous tests (8.8.32) the deflections and permanent sets were measured, the loads being applied first at the crown end, then at the centre, and finally at the lower end of the sawcut, a different piston being used for each test. In each case the load was applied over an arc just slightly greater than the diagonal range of the sawcut, and a length of .250" - see sketch on graph. With a piston loaded in the centre of the sawcut, the load was gradually increased until at 920 lbs. the skirt cracked. Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /WB. {Mr Brazier / Mr Bell} | ||
