Øs/ØE (Electrical) ( = es/E )

and Tr {Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance} /Øs (Mechanical) ( = Tr {Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance} /Ts )

the product of which is the overall efficiency of the motor, but also to obtain a third quantity Øs/Øe which is of importance as an expression of the armature reaction effect. We call this the armature reaction efficiency.

A convenient way of exhibiting these efficiencies graphically is to plot them on an ampere base, or alternatively some or all of the quantities E, ee, es, Øe, Øs, Ts, Tr {Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance} , may be plotted on such a base, say E, es, Øs, Ts, Tr. {Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}
Since the general relations above are actually

e = (Z P N / (60x10^8 x b)) . Ø volts.

T = (1.41 Z P C / (10^8 x b)) . Ø lb-inches

where Z = No. of conductors
P = No. of poles
b = No. of parallel paths through armature.
N.= Speed in R.P.M.

Therefore

Φ (kilolines) = (60 x 10^5 x b / Z P) x e {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} /N = α . e {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} /N (say)

and also = (10^5 x b / 1.41 Z P) x T/C = β . T/C (say)
