E {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} /HDY. {William Hardy} 2/HP.16.3.37. Wraith II - Gearbox. We send herewith N.Sch.5055 showing a rocking shaft for the top and 3rd speed actuation modified to reduce cost. There is now only one forging instead of two, and there is no brazing. The bearing pieces are now screwed in the gearbox casing as this is thought to be cheaper than the present scheme. The screwed pieces also suit the enlarged boss for the combined filling plug and dip stick. The top front cover is now the same piece as for the 25/30 except that it is suggested that the particulars of the patent should be engraved in the die to reduce cost.
