re F55185 Zenith Petrol Filters

We have noted the remarks of the Zenith Carburetter Co. in their letter of the 2nd inst. attached to your Roy {Mr H. Royce - Buyer} /JT3/HP4.6.28, relative to the matter of the stirrups not being concentric with the glasses on Zenith Petrol Filters, and we hope that no further trouble in this respect will be experienced.

Apart from the above however, we have experienced several cases where the glasses are tight in the housing - apparently there is not sufficient range of clearance in the housings to allow for glasses which slightly differ in size. We are returning a filter having this trouble to the Inspection Dept. for return to the makers for their inspection and report - It will be noticed that in endeavouring to remove the glass we have cracked it, owing to it being too tight a fit in the housing - we have had several other glasses break similarly.

Please ask the makers to correct this housing and to supply us with 3 new glasses for which we suggest they should make no charge.

Whilst on the subject of Zenith Petrol filters, we do not appear to have heard anything of the trouble experienced with the plating on these, as pointed out in memo By {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} /Mtnl2/KB.5.28.
