bearing in mind in regard to 'U' Series that as possibly only 50 or 100 may ever be made, it would not be worth while introducing anything that would mean expensive additions to the cost of jigs and tools.

GEARBOX: To be synchro-mesh third speed, subject to the remarks made above.

BACK AXLE: This to be standard because I understand if it were fitted with hypoid gears it would mean a change in the axle tubes and spring fittings, as J.3 will have a wider frame.

UNIVERSAL DASHBOARD: I understand that as this is going to be standard on the second half of 'T', so it will be all in order on this car.

BATTERY: Ev. {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} says "Stock type battery in metal box and the sheet metal crossmember at the front of the rear springs." He says it has been instructed, that it saves several pounds in money, and enables the rear floor to be lowered over 1 inch and does more in this respect than hypoid axle. The battery and box, he says, are used on J.3 and on the assumption that the latter is correct I agree, because any jig and tool expense would be spread over on to J.3.

ADJUSTABLE PEDALS: Ev. {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} says "It may be thought that as the new gearbox entails new pedal forgings, this feature should be added, as the pedals will no doubt go with the box on to J.3".

My views on this point are that the pedals should be left as on 'T' Series, unless it is perfectly clear and definite that any new adjustable pedals put on to this car would be identical with those for J.3.

PETROL TANK: I have discussed with Ev. {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} and he agrees with what we discussed with you, namely, that the opportunity should be taken of increasing the size of the petrol tank and helping to fill up the space between the back of the tank and the rear crossmember, which heretofore has been occupied by the back wheel. DA {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} /Ev. {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} will send you the necessary scheme.

BONNET: This is to be of the rivetless type, assuming we have passed a satisfactory one in time and have the saze
