| SECRET. 1023. W/S {Derby Works / Sales} - Hn {F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} , Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Les.10/JH.11.4.38. Over-riders of Bumper Bars. We find that the over-rider used on bumpers on R.R. cars is a registered design belonging to Ridlington. Da {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} /Ev. {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} tells me that you were responsible for the shape and that Ridlington must have made a fast move to register it. Can you let me know the true story. We find that Ridlington's prices are too high, but at the same time Sg. {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} likes our present standard over-rider. We are informed that if it is true that this over-rider is our design even if only a very rough sketch was given to Ridlington, we have perfect liberty to use the design.
