CHROMIUM PLATING.
----------------

I suggested to Sales that one of our Experimental cars should be chromium plated as an example of this type of finish, and further it would give us some practical experience in regard to the durability or otherwise of this type of finish as produced at the present moment.

All parts which are at present nickel plated or made in solid nickel will have to be chromium plated for finish. This includes the radiator, top tank and side plates. The former would have to be built up and sent away with the two side plates for chromium plating. The side lever mechanism we suggest should be finished off but not close plated, the same with the steering column tubes, and whilst all steel parts will have to be nickel plated as a basis for the chromium plating I would prefer that we do not nickel plate these parts ourselves, as by so doing we should divide responsibility, it being of the utmost importance that the nickel depositing is beyond question, and therefore it ought to be produced by the people who will be finally responsible for the finish. In this case we would suggest that Messrs. Cannings are given the job, as it would be a test on the quality of their production, and the value of the apparatus they would recommend if later we had to come to chromium plating ourselves.
