Rear Leaf Springs - B.III. B.50. W.60. W.80.

We are using 5" deflection coil front springs on all the above cars and to match these we need 7" static deflection rear springs. This in turn necessitates 1.175" more bump clearance.

With the present shackles, etc., this means the springs should be flat under the full load, i.e., 4 passengers of 150 lbs; the deflection is then 7".

With the 50" spring especially, shackles 2" long are too short, and will have to be lengthened to 3" or more. We understand this is being done by raising the top end of the shackle link which will not affect the spring, but should the bottom end be lowered, the spring camber is altered.
