CJ3/B21512 DEPARTMENTAL MEMO. This column is for Name of Person addressed. Technical Committee DATE. 21.5.X12. Z 615 Will you please explain to me how it was that on the 1st. of May I was assured the clearance under the flywheel guard in the standard chassis had never been less than 8", on the present standard chassis the clearance was 9¼" and on the Colonial model 10¼", whereas as a matter of fact it is now acknowledged that in the 1800 type the clearance is only 6.7" in the standard chassis and 7.5" in the Colonial. I am told that the explanation is that the measurements were taken from drawings and the drawings were wrong. The drawings appear to have been wrong to the extent of 1.3". This is a very serious matter when one is dealing with such questions as clearances, and I want an explanation as to how such a serious difference could have existed in drawings and actual chassis.
