| 57120. To Sg. {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} From Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to PN. {Mr Northey} Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 4/MJ.21.1.32. re 27-EX. Replying to Sg. {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} 5/E20.1.32. The position of this car is that it is being held up for tests on the gearbox with the Epicyclic third speed. We know that R. {Sir Henry Royce} is keenly interested in this gearbox, and he would doubtless complain if the tests on this were delayed in order to push S.U. carburetters. In the meantime we have transferred the carburetter over to another car, and yesterday the car was taken over to the S.U. factory at Birmingham and they adjusted them. E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} and myself propose going over there again this afternoon in order to discuss with them the modifications we suggest making to the S.U. carburetters. As soon as the S.U. Company have done the best that they can with the carburetters as we had them on 27-EX. we will then refit them to that car and let you have it in London. I think we can safely say that some time next week we ought to be able to send this car to London. Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
