| EXTRACT FROM LETTER FROM MESSRS BENTON & STONE LTD. DATED 6th January 1928:- " We would point out that the essential features of this job are the fact that solderless unions are used and the body contains a loose sleeve controlling the direction of inlet and outlet. By removing one union complete from the body and reversing this loose sleeve the direction of flow can be altered from right hand to left hand, or vice versa. This means that the filter can be fitted on either side of the engine or dashboard according to the general layout. The filter plates, unlike similar makes, are not loose, and when the filter is entirely disembled, if ever necessary, for cleaning purposes, there is no fear of the plates being lost while being swilled out in petrol. It might be mentioned that we can supply cones for either 1/4" 3/8" or 5/16" pipe. We are also handing you a sample length of Copper Piping, illustrating our patent forged nipple with steel cone and special nut. This is having a tremendous sale to manufacturers, and several of the largest of these have contracted with us for their season's requirements of oil and petrol pipes. Owing to the fact that the nipple used to be soldered or brazed on to the pipe, trouble has been experienced in the past due to fracture at this point. With this patent pipe of ours there is no fear of this usual trouble occurring, or of the nipple ever coming apart from the actual pipe itself. It is entirely immune from such troubles. Furthermore, the nipple being an integral part of the pipe, the seating is of soft copper and beds itself into the union, forming a proper petrol tight joint without tightening the nut unduly." | ||
