| G. {Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} R. {Sir Henry Royce} WRAITH CHASSIS - MODIFICATIONS TO CLUTCH. Please receive herewith :- G.CD.1010 Modifications necessary to the clutch etc. B.60 Engine Unit in a Wraith chassis. The scheme shows a mild steel plate fitted between the rearface of the clutch casing and the front face of the gearbox. This is necessary because of the differences in size and position of the two facings, a Wraith standard gearbox and an existing B.60 clutch casing being used. By adding this plate and in using the B.60 clutch casing the flywheel position is .950 further forward in relation to the gearbox compared with Wraith. The 1st. Motion Shaft and the extension on the gearbox front end cover to carry the clutch release bearing will require lengthening by this amount. The rear face of the clutch casing will need cutting away to clear the gearbox front end cover. The adaptor restoring the strength lost. The carrier for the clutch release bearing can be produced from a Wraith piece to suit the B.lll type of operating shaft. Details urgently required. DA. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
