(crossed out) Handwritten: 1044 646 Wraith II Lower Triangle, Front Suspension. We send herewith N.Sch.5016 which deals with fouls between the lower triangle lever and parts of the pan. To increase the clearance between the base of the triangle lever and the nuts on the housing we suggest that a 1.BA locknut be used. We have set out this clearance and it would appear to be better on the drawing than it has turned out to be on the car. It is very important to keep the overhang load on the triangle bearing at a minimum, and therefore we do not wish to move out the triangle lever. On N.Sch.4850 we showed a boss for the lower connection of the front roll rod but a complete design for the roll rod ball end and link has not been done as we have been awaiting experimental reports on the assembly and disassembly of the American type link which it is essential to use in this position. On N.Sch.5016 herewith we show a taper ended ball end or pallet which would be used with the American link. If we are forced to use a demountable link this ball end can be forced in and the boss on the lever shortened, therefore the ball end which we show illustrates the worst case, and the drawing shows how the flange of the bottom pan should be cut away to clear. In passing we would mention that the pallet end should not be as called for on GW.916 but as asked for on N.Sch.4880. Ev. {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Att:N.Sch.5016. | ||
