| To HS {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} From S.W.H. Hotel de France Chateauroux(French test region) Indre 12 31/3/29 The result of altering the rear shock dampers has resulted in throwing up the rear passenger continually when going over uneven ground. The axle does not hold the road. When cornering, we should say that we require 25% more damping both ways, also slightly stronger springs. We shall try with a less diametre hole in the H.P. valves as there is no knocking at present. The telegauge is now operating OK but we have not sufficient liquid to fully make up the loss we have used five globules. We have dismantled the starter motor and found that the large diameter bearing, pinion end, had become badly scored. It does not appear to be the right combination of metals, the shaft is soft and the gun metal tears up. The ebonite moulding for the contact had warped altering the setting. We are at present working on this and will report results. The milage is being run morning only and investigation work carried on in the afternoon. G.W.H. [Handwritten Notes] Seen E.F.C.
