| Mr. Brock From Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. to Wor. {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to By. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 1/MJ.24.7.31. We believe that you have been handicapped in dealing with shock absorbers returned as noisy, by the fact that we have not sent you all the available information. Whilst we were developing the shock absorbers the Repair Dept. were dealing with the repair work on faulty dampers and therefore we sent them the information as we obtained it. It is unfortunate that when they handed the job over to you they did not give you with it all the information at their disposal. We attach herewith copy of memo Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 5/LG.4.12.28, which describes the fault which you ran into the other day. We were waiting to know if the fault showed up in customers hands before again pressing the Design Dept., to make an alteration. You will recollect that at the end of last year we found one or two dampers shewing signs of the trouble and reduced the replenishing valve lift to .025" to overcome it. As the fault has now shewn up on our car in France, evidently the modification is not sufficiently effective. We are therefore pressing for design alteration.
