| To Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} From G.W.H. 47941 Hotel de France Châteauroux Indre 82 3/5/29 Please note that the critical speed should have read 58 - 64 M.P.H. anf not 48 - 54 M.P.H. in our report of yesterday. Steering with front wheels parallell, shock dampers 60 lbs L and 60 lbs HP. new cross steering tube with old contacts giving a load of 7.25 lbs at the steering wheel 2 1/2° lean of pivot, tyre pressure 47 lbs sq. inch. SELECTIVITY NOT GOOD SHOCKS ARE REDUCED 90% SELF CENTERING 50% SLOW SPEED OK AND FOR SHUNTING. CRITICAL SPEED 58 - 64 M.P.H. 10% SIGN OF JOGGLES JELLYING HARDLY PERCEPTIBLE. FRONT ROAD WHEELS SET WITH .125 " TOE IN.OTHER CONDITIONS THE SAME. SELECTIVITY QUITE OK. SHOCKS ARE REDUCED 80%. SELF CENTERING 100%. SLOW SPEED OK AND FOR SHUNTING. CRITICAL SPEED 58 - 64 M.P.H 15% SIGN OF JOGGLES. JELLYING HARDLY PERCEPTIBLE. FRONT ROAD WHEELS SET WITH .1875" TOE IN OTHER CONDITIONS THE SAME. selectivity at par with previous test. SHOCKS ON STEERING WHEEL ARE REDUCED 60% SELF CENTERING 100% SLOW SPEED OK LIGHTER THAN PREVIOUS TEST. CRITICAL SPEED 58 - 64 M.P.H. 18% SIGN OF JOGGLES. JELLYING HARDLE PERCEPTIBLE SLIGHT PERIODS OCCASIONALLY. JOGGLES GENERALLY ARE 5% WORSE. Summing up these test we prefer the .125" toe in and s shall now carry on with lean of pivots under these conditions. We have also observed that the contacts are not making a good bed. The ball ends are not seating on the bottom of the contacts. G.W.H. | ||
