| X1033 S/W. {Sales / Derby Works} Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} re- Stromberg Carburetters and Flooding. Cx {Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} 6/KW17.12.35. Sg {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} has passed to me your Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 6/KW13.12.35, after perusal. It would be interesting to us in London to know what are the special benefits to be derived from the down draught carburetter. This is a point that would often crop up in conversation with customers, and we should liketo be more fully informed on the merits of this system. It is particularly interesting to know that the Cadillac is not fitted with down draught carburetters. We can particularly understand the convenience of mounting the carburetters above the engine in a Vee design of engine where convenience and accessibility are important points, and this therefore brings us to Point No.2, which is that we cannot for the same reasons appreciate the necessity of fitting down draught carburetters on the big bore engine, such as now fitted to Sg {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} 's car, where this inherent difficulty of flooding has to be tackled. Possibly the outstanding merits of this type of carburetter, when you explain them to us, will make clear the reasons why in spite of its drawbacks you wish to adopt the down draught carburetter for that type of engine also. You reply on these points will be awaited with considerable interest. cx. {Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} [illegible signature] | ||
