Re Wraith III.

Ref:- Cx. {Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} 11/KL.24.3.37.

We thank you for your Cx. {Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} 11/KL.24.3.37. re the Enclosed Limousine 26.G.6. for the third Wraith car.

Whilst it may be that only three experimental chassis have been authorized up to this moment, there will certainly be a fourth we understand, and very possibly a fifth and sixth. Consequently there will be a use for the Four-door Saloon 27.G.6 and the Sedanca.

In view of the present trade boom we are unable to obtain an experimental body as quickly as we have done in the past, and a period of more like 12 weeks is necessary now instead of 8 if we are to avoid the cost of asking the Coachbuilder to work overtime. A fairly long policy, therefore, is advisable in connection with experimental coachwork if we are to avoid delay in producing the completed car.

Several sets of parts are being produced for the "Gold Standard" Wraith III/chassis of which 26.G.6 is the first, and consequently a second and third chassis could be put together in a few weeks if they were authorized, whilst the body would take several months. We shall have a body for the second Wraith III "Gold Standard" 27.G.6 and we suggest that if there is any likelihood of there being a third Wraith III chassis a body should be put in hand for it without much delay.

With respect to the last paragraph of your memo. concerning the heading of our E {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} /Ev. {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} 5/HN. {F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} 17.3.37. the term Wraith is a generic or serial term applying to the new 25/30 H.P. car. Wraith I was the car when it had an eight-cylinder in-line engine, Wraith II is the car having the present 25/30 H.P. engine, and Wraith III is the car having the new 25/30 H.P. six-cylinder engine.
