RE VISIT OF MESSRS. WORMALD AND HIVES TO WEST WITTERING(Henry Royce's home town), SATURDAY MARCH 19TH. 21.

Extract from E6/G31.3.21 40/50 H.P. TOOL KIT.

---------The tools for each chassis should be sent out in two sealed packing boxes. Accommodation for tools should be allowed for in the coachwork, preferably under the driver's seat. Mr. Royce agrees to Mr. Hives' suggestion that a spare valve is not wanted, but only a spare spring. All tools should be very distinctly marked "Rolls-Royce". The equipment should be divided into two classes -
(a) Garage tools and spares.
(b) Tools carried on car and spares.
Class (a) should include the rarely used tools (such as large box spanners) and withdrawing devices which are only required for work in the garage. The spares in class (a) should also include the spare nuts and bolts supplied with the car.
Recommendations should be made to the coachbuilders as regards tool trays.
Mr. Royce proposes that we should return to double ended box spanners to economise space. The holes for the tommy bars only-should-be-provided;-one in these spanners should be increased in diameter and two tommy bars should be provided; one short and the other long and thick.

E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
