WRAITH GEAR BOX ON BENTLEY lll.

RAH

Herewith is PD.301 shewing the arrangement of overdrive ratios, so as to make the Wraith gear box suitable for use on Bentley lll should it be desired to do so.

The capacity of the ball bearing on the 1st. motion shaft is increased by increasing the diameter of the balls, so that the bearing is now either a standard New Departure or a special Hoffmann or Ransome & Marles.

The roller bearing on the front end of the 2nd motion shaft has been increased in diameter, so increasing the diameter of the shaft nose, and the centre bearings have become roller instead of ball. The reverse gears have been narrowed, so retaining the Wraith width of synchronising cones. It is desired to put one of these boxes in a Bentley car. There is a rear end cover and rear end of 3rd motion shaft to be done. A scheme will be issued shortly.
