Since my return I have read with very considerable interest the results of experimental work which you have been carrying out with a view to obtaining improved performance from the 20/25.

I quite agree with you that improved performance would probably help sales and that there are quite a number of people whom the car does not interest at the present time because of its performance.

I note from Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 3/MJ.29.8.31 that your experiments have been kept separate, i.e. on 12-G4 you have concentrated on performance and on 18-G4 you have carried out the work to increase smoothness and reduce vibrations, and that the results now justify the incorporation of all the good features on one car.

I see that this is being done on 18-G4 and that you expect to have it ready in about a week or 10 days' time.

I should be very glad if you would keep me in close touch with it as I should like to try the car personally - not just up and down a bypass road but have it to take away for a day for a good drive.
